Justice

Waiting for Justice

Trial balloons went up in D.C. last week about the possibility of President Trump agreeing to resign the office if his family can walk away from any criminal charges.  Don would pull off the biggest con of all time by conspiring to steal an election, using the office to enrich his family, aiding our enemies, dismantling environmental and financial regulations, wrecking our alliances and getting a $100 million golf vacation courtesy of the American taxpayer then retiring to Palm Beach to chase porn stars and yuck it up with his boys while holding court at Mar Lago.  He got to live every mobster’s dream, to include firing the head of the FBI, then sits back and counts his money because it was all just a joke, right?

Fuck that.

According to everything that’s surfaced in the case, the President and his family have broken dozens of laws multiple times. If it were any of us plebes that committed these offenses, we’d be spending the rest of our lives in prison.

There needs to be accountability in our society and that starts at the top.

The damage this mobbed up clown has done to our republic and millions of Americans is inestimable to say nothing of the ticking time bombs he’s planted: the ballooning national debt, the appointment of incompetent ideologues to the federal judiciary, elimination of air and water safety and climate change denial.

By letting this cabal of hucksters, hustlers and traitors walk free, we invite even greater criminals into the White House. Thank you sir, may I have another? Only next time he won’t be Al Cervik with a Hitler fetish, he’ll be Hitler.

Impunity leads to greater recklessness the longer it is unaddressed. In 2000, the GOP lost the election but brow beat local election authorities to steal it. People thought, ‘oh well’, let’s not rock the boat, they won’t do it again and G.W. will have some experienced hands to guide him’. How did that turn out? It was followed by electronic vote stealing in Ohio in 2004, which resulted in another G.O.P. victory. What did this impunity cost us? Hundreds of thousands killed in the Middle East, trillions wasted and a financial collapse which robbed millions of Americans of their saving, jobs and homes.

Obama let it all slide and thought if he led by example he’d bring the other side to the table.  That doesn’t work when the person sitting across from you knows there are no repercussions for criminal behavior.  Voter suppression, gerrymandering and rigging the vote became became the norm, yes, hi, I’m talking to you Scott Walker.

The Republican establishment, up until 2016, used lies, dark money, fake Christianity,  guns and Diebold voting machines. They decided to one up themselves and go all-in-on treason in order to get America to swallow the shit sandwich of a GOP candidate – a mobbed-up Elmer J. Fudd from Queens.

The gamble paid off. They’ve gorged themselves on money at the public trough for two years. Trump and his family did all of this at our expense – held federal workers hostage for five weeks for Trump’s wall made of either concrete (mob) or steel (Russian mob), Qatar held hostage by Saudi Arabia to cough up money for Jared Kushner’s 666 building, American farmers lost current and future Chinese sales while Ivanka snapped up trademarks from the PRC, the Kushners sold condos to the communist elite and the President wrecked our alliances and crippled our federal law enforcement and intelligence communities so he could build a fucking residential tower in Moscow. They’ve turned over our cabinet posts and departments to lobbyists, billionaires and probable money launderers to grab what they can as fast as they can all in the name of the Trump brand – a white muscle car with fiery exhaust, gold crosses painted on the doors and a 12 horsepower engine under the hood in the hopes that legions of the ignorant and well-armed will come to their defense when they’ve been caught.

We’re supposed to let that slide?

Fuck that.

The need for criminal accountability predates our constitution and goes back to the Magna Carta – the king isn’t above the law.  We the people have a right to know every scheme these liars and thieves have been crafting the last several years.  We need public trials that restore integrity to our government.

Some argue Trump resigning with a no prosecution deal in place will spare the nation the divisiveness of a trial. If Roger Stone, Dan Bogino, Alex Jones and an assortment of incels and neo-nazis think they can violently take over a nation of 360 million and suspend the rule of law, they’re sorely mistaken.

Commander Babyfingers should be looking forward to the court proceedings against him, as they will likely be the highest-rated live media events in human history.  It will give him one more platform to spew his venom but will also prove beyond a reasonable doubt he’s a crook and, probably, a traitor.  To those who believe that a third of the population will stick behind him no matter what, you’re kidding yourselves. Trials work when it comes to reforming society – it’s why revolutionaries, authoritarians and victorious armies use them.

Trump and his retinue have done immediate and long term damage to our nation with their kleptocracy. Unless justice is served, we invite a more competent monster into the Oval Office in the future. After all, if an idiot like Trump can pull it off in broad daylight, anyone can.

Next time we might not be so lucky.
